Question:

License Points in MD?

I was wondering how many points I would have on my license if I was (or will be rather) convicted of Reckless Driving by speed in Virginia. I know that Virginia notifies the mva in Maryland and they then deal out the points to my license. If you look on the site (provided below) they say that driving over 20 mph is 5 points, but reckless driving is 6 points, so I'm wondering will I only be assigned one of these point values or both?

Thanks

  1. You will NOT get points on your Maryland drivers license, but the conviction in Virginia will show on your Maryland driving record.  Maryland MVA does not assign points for tickets outside of Maryland unless they are:
        * Alcohol or drug related offenses;
        * Leaving the scene of a personal injury accident;
        * Homicide or manslaughter involving a vehicle;
        * Use of a motor vehicle in the commission of a felony.
