Alright so heres the thing. Today is my 16th birthday and I currently do not hold my Drivers Permit. I am a legal resident in both Illinois and Wisconsin. To get my license in IL, I need to hold a permit for 9 months, which I dont want to wait. In Wisconsin, you dont have to wait you only need your hours in drivers ed. I go to school here in Illinois and visit wisconsin only in the summer where my dad lives. Pretty much boils down to can I go take drivers ed in wisconsin and get my license there and hold a wisc. drivers license for a year then transfer to IL after the waiting period is up, reason im asking is because I dont go to school in wisc.

Thanks for any help, can provide more detail if needed.

  1. You cannot be a "legal" resident of both states.  You are a legal resident in only one of those states.  Sounds to me as if your legal residence is Illinois so you would have to get an Illinois drivers license.  (Please note that I said "LEGAL" resident)
