My dad was caught and arrested for DUI back in 1994. And his license was suspended he paid fines, after fines, but eventually more fees appear and he gave up and didn’t pay anymore. He has not had a license since, and this money owed kept coming up on his credit report. But controversy is that a few days ago he ran his credit and his debt with Motor vehicle is gone is no longer showing up on his credit report. It is possible that after 7 years it cleared and now he’ll be able to go and restored his license after so many years? Or does Motor vehicle keeps that record for life? Please help answer my question.

  1. I daresay that using credit reporting agencies as a way to check criminal records is not a good plan.  The state is not so quick to forgive.

  2. it will be on his dmv forever. he will need to pay the fine, yes it is expensive and they do that to get people to maybe not do it again. see if he can make an appt with the dmv. and he can set up payment arrangements and maybe they can give him a total of what he owes once and for all

  3. Although it only shows up on your credit report for a time period, usually 7 years in most states, it shows up on your DMV record forever.  If he wants his license back he will have to pay all past due fines, possibly with interest at this point.
