Hi! Our mixed read nosed pit loves to swim in the pool. Lately he has been busy l*****g hinself almost constantly. I dry him off after swimming. It's been warm here in California, upper 80's to mid 90's. Any ideas?

  1. I'm guessing your dog's skin is sensitive and is getting dried out. Based on advice I've read for and by lap swimmers, I suggest you rinse him down *prior* to getting in the pool. Rinsing him down beforehand can prevent some of the chemical reactions from occuring on the skin (chlorine doing it's job). Rinse him off right after he gets out of the pool to minimize exposure.

How to have water of a reasonable temp on hand for all this rinsing? If he doesn't care about cold water, I suppose you can use it straight from the hose. Otherwise you might need to dedicate a big washtub on the deck for rinsing.
