I would like more information on Licorice Root Syrup for low cortisol. Why is it good for the adrenals? How does it support them vs cause an addictive type need.

What else are the pros and cons. High blood pressure is not an issue.

Licorice is made of glycyrrhizic acid.  Eating licorice prolongs the time that cortisol stays in the body, because it inhibits an enzyme that deactivates the cortisol in the kidney.  Cortisol helps retain body fluids, so if you eat a lot of licorice it can decrease the amount of cortisol that become deactivated in your body in the kidney and thus, you retain more fluid and this can cause increased blood pressure.
