I looked at the carfax and vehicle had a report of a lien being reported, and the next record says that "vehicle in dealer inventroy." Should I worry about the lien, or because the vehicle is being sold through the dealership I have nothing to worry about?

  1. I am a dealer and that question is asked allot when people see the car fax report.  It is very common.  One thing you must realize, is that when a lien is placed on a vehicle, such as when a car is financed at a bank it is recorded at the dmv and that is how it ends up on car fax.  What is not reported though is when the lien is satisfied.  It never shows up.  This car was either bought at an auction, or was traded in to the dealer.  I would not worry about it, it is the dealers problem not yours if there is an issue.  Especially if you are financing the car.  The selling dealership has a responsibility to register the car for you and the banks are not as patient as customers paying cash.  Either way, the dealership is responsible for this and you need not worry.  If you like the car then buy it and enjoy it but don't worry about that.  Take care and remember, buying a car is suppose to be fun so take the worry over things like that and let it go.  Have a great weekend

  2. If you are considering buying the car, go to the dealer and make sure the lien cleared.  It probably is cleared, but make sure with the dealership.
