Please tell me your experiences in Brazil.

Do you think it is recommendable to stay there as immigrant?

  1. Brazil has a high DHI (quality of life) measured by United Nations, a urbanized population and the 8th largest economy (according to IMF). Brazil is also a Democracy. But our country is unequal, so you will find rich places mixed with poor places in the same city (maybe in the same street). If you go to the seaside, you won´t regret. The best cities to work are in the south and south-east, but if you want to live in the paradise you shall go to the north-east. Brazilians like foreigners, even when they come to live here. They just hate when you come here and start to complain and see just the dark side of the country (like shanties, that represents only 5,8% of the population, but are visible near the richest areas). When you start to speak portuguese, even with accent, nobody will notice that you aren´t brazilian, because we are completely mixed (there are japaneses, arabs, angolans, germans, italians, indians, chinese, jewish, korean etc and very etc).

  2. That depends a lot on where you are coming from.

Brazil has huge problems but it still a lot better than a lot of places in the world.

Life is pretty expensive here now with the currency over valued against the dollar, euro and pound, which made cities like Sao Paulo and Rio numbers 31 and 34 in the world bank rating of more expensive to live in, not to mention violence which is high.

I live in a small town and life quality is pretty good, no violence at all, weather is great of course, but remember than even though in theory Brazilian health care and edcucation systems are free and universal, it does not work that way at all. So you need health insurance and private schools, if you expect some quality.

Also its not easy to get an immigrant visa or a working visa.

I do understand that they have recently been receiving some palestine refugees, but legally it is not easy.

Of course there are loads of illegals living here from countries which are poorer, but they are underemployed.

It still is a welcoming country, mostly.

    Good luck

  3. Love Brasil, but I hate the Bureaucracy.  Trying to buy something in a shop takes ages.  You have to go to one queue where they take what you are buying off you, then another where they give you a receipt & then another where you pick up what you've bought (apart from the big supermarkets or department stores of course).

Travel is a bit of a nightmare too if you have no money.

  4. Depends where are you coming from.

Life is supposedly "better" in Canada, USA and West Europe then Brasil...but those places have higher chance of terrorism attack, much higher living costs, and are much colder (both weather and people).

I think the quality of life is very good in South and Southeast parts of Brazil.
