Question:

Life in Fort Carson?

My husband and I are in Korea and he may pcs to Fort Carson, CO in the next year. I was wondering are there any colleges near there since I want to do something in nursing? And I hear there is a long waiting list for housing as well? What can we do to get started early? He suggests that I should go back to our home state because he may be deployed soon but who knows . Is it possible to get deployed after being overseas for two years? I have so many questions...hehe. Thanks for answering...

  1. I used to live in Fort Carson

There are several colleges right in Colorado Springs - there are also many military installations (Air Force Academy in the north, Carson on the south end, Peterson AFB in the middle)

Yes, he can be deployed right away, it's unit depending, not soldier dependent.

My husband came home from Korea, we moved to Ft Sill and he deployed - all within 6 months.

You *may* get priority in housing, we did because we were considered on the list from the time he left the states for Korea -but it was a 1 year hardship.

You can probably email housing in Carson to check.

You'll LOVE Carson! I miss it!
