Me (20) and my sister (19) are moving to Guadalajara to live by ourselves this will be the first time we are away from our parents, it'll be tough. We currently live in Atlanta, Georgia a big city, we are Mexican but have been living in Georgia for over 10 yrs, I want to know what's life like out there? ... will it be very different from here and how?

  1. Hi there, yes it will be different, it's a different country = different culture.

Guadalajara is a big city, beautiful in most parts and with many things to do: museums, concert and stuff. There are good hospitals too. The city is not spread out as Atlanta is, you'll see houses are built one after the other.

The newest part of town is Zapopan which is a different city but is only divided by a street (like Atlanta and Roswell), find an apartament there.

You'll find Walmart, Sams, and all the American fast food restaurant chains.

As opposed to the US a lot of people walk, and use public transportation. As in all big cities, avoid the bad neighborhoods, and don't walk at night.

    People are friendly and pretty.

I hope you enjoy your adventure very much, take care of yourselves use your common sense.
