What is life like?

What does it set up well for in the civilian world (accounting, management, HR?)

What degrees would you suggest to a YM?

  1. An SK would be a better job.  You will deal with budgets, inventory, warehousing, shipping, receiving, etc...

    YN is an administrative assistant.

  2. A yeoman is nothing more than a paper pusher.  Your chief will work directly for the Executive Officer (2nd in command) at least they did onboard the sub I was on.  As far as a civilian job it would be the equivalent to a secretary or maybe HR.  Any degree you want to get in the business world would not hurt but you do not need a degree to become a yeoman.  From talking to the yeomen on my boat life did not seem to difficult unless there are a lot of s***w ups on your boat going to Captains Mast because that would be extra work for you.
