Life on Earth 200 years from now...?

My question has two parts.

First, what do you think life on Earth will be like 200 years from now?

Second, if you were to come back on Earth 200 years from now, does this correspond to the kind of world you would like to live in?

  1. no one that is living right now will know!!!

    isn't that weird!

    :)

ya, i wouldn't mind coming back but i'm sure that, where i will be 200 years from now, i wouldn't want to be any other place

  2. I do not expect life to be here as we know it today in less than 200 years, the odds are very much against us.

Perhaps some thing unexpected will keep us going a little bit longer.

P.S. Many species of life die out every year and only once in a while do we discover new life under some rock under the see or some jungle.

  3. The human race will have killed everything by then.

  4. Such answers! I feel like all hope is lost!

But I don't think those answers will come true.

    Here's my $.02:

We will have run out of fossil fuels, the population will have reduced by 40% from the projected high of 15 billion and a more Utopian/agrarian culture would've emerged. Big cities will have gotten bigger and begun a slow reclamation to something more manageable.

We will have been able to return a good deal of the earth back to what it was before America was colonized: pristine environmental havens for wildlife. However, desertification will have turned Las Vegas and LA into a badland. Most of Africa will have turned into a desert and large swaths of India will also have become deserts.

We will have colonized Mars and the moon. This would've allowed a large number of people to relocate and import minerals and raw materials back to the earth for use in construction and fabrication. Fusion will be in use and air pollution will be at pre-industrial levels.

I'm not sure if I would want to go to this future. There would be too many changes to lifestyles and cultures to really understand and fit in.

  5. can't say

  6. I don't think the earth will last that long..
