This may sound like a stupid question, but how come we (humans) don't know about our own past. When the first humans came on Earth, shouldn't they know how they came to exist, and then they would tell there childern, and so on. How come we have to guess about our own past.

  1. We do keep an immense amount of our own history.  In earlier years, the lacked the ability to record it.  There's quite a bit of oral tradition, and there's quite a bit in common among various societies.  But we all know how unreliable oral communication can be.  Depending on how much evolutionary theory is true, it was quite a long time before we were capable of dealing with the necessary abstract concepts.

  2. because we weren't intelligent enough to pass on the information

  3. If you believe that life began millions of years ago and that man evolved from single cells, then those single cells continued to evolve through many steps in our evolution, most of the beings through the evolutionary process would not have been able to keep a record of our history.

If you believe in God and creation, then you have a record of the history of humans in the Bible.
