  1. Well, it tells you what you're allowed to sell.

The test for a life only license wouldn't include accident or health questions.

I didn't know CA did a stand alone life license - most states, combine it as "life accident  & health".

  2. GA also does one for Life, one for A&H and one that is a combination life, A&H.  If you have the option, you should take the combination, even if you are only going to sell one line now, you will have the license if you need it later for other product lines.

  3. It's better to be licensed for both. You will only have one license, and It will show what lines you are licensed for.

You can be licensed for life or A&H only, but why?

If you are licensed for life only, but in the interview with the prospect, you discover he/she needs disability income coverage, or health insurance. You write the life; another agent comes in and writes the DI and Health, and chances are that he/she will also replace your life policy.

The more lines of insurance you can place in a household, the better your persistency.

You might even consider being licensed for property and casualty (P&C). You could also write their cars, home, boat, and motorcycle.
