How might producing offspring with a wide variety of variations help a species to survive?

  1. If there are no variations within species, the species would not survive too long since, the species as a population is unable to adapt to any environmental changes. With a wide spectrum of variation, there is a higher chance that at least some of the population may survive and pass on their vital traits to the next generation.

    Agents of variation include mutations, natural selection, gene flow, and genetic drift.
