  1. you could do with doing an RLSS qualification. you can't do this until you are 16 but that can't be too far away seeing as though you're 15. This costs about £150 but that's including your training, your folder including information you need to learn and the exam costs. The exam easy so it's nothing to worry about. It's half in the water and half of it is questions based on the theory side of it. It's worth doing as it's a good thing to have on your CV. I've been a lifeguard for almost 2 years now and i love my job so i do recommend you do it! also if you find the right place to work, you could get paid really good money. hope this helps!

  2. In the UK, you generally need to get either an RLSS (Royal Life Saving Society) Bronze Medallion or an STA (Swimming Teachers Association) NARS  Lifesaving Award to get the basic qualifications to be a lifeguard.  The RLSS one is more prolific in terms of courses and more widely recognised, although it tends to be more expensive.   Depending on whether you want to do swimming pool or beach lifeguarding, you can take specialist Bronze Medallions for either or both of these, although there is obviously an overlap on content.

Each includes lifesaving & rescue techniques,  resuscitation & first aid. There are many higher qualifications than this basic Bronze Medallion, but you can take this from 14 years of age. The cost I think is generally the same across the board for the exam, but I would shop around just in case!

There are plenty of lifesaving exams for younger children, at much higher levels (Distinction used to be the highest) and even those for people who don't want to get into the water (rescue techniques & full resuscitation/ cardiac compression) so you could even persuade friends and family to join you! There are even national lifesaving competitions that you can take at school, club, individual and team levels which are great fun.

It's a great skill to have and great on your CV, and even a good one to have if you want to start babysitting. Good luck on finding a course and completing it.
