Lifeguard BSA?

Question

Does earning Lifeguard BSA (of Boy Scouts of America) automatically certify you as a lifeguard with the American Red Cross or equalivant? Or would one have to complete it for ARC separately?

Hello:

Earning the BSA Lifeguard is a good warmup, but it does not cross-transfer to the ARC Lifeguard certification. You must attend and pass the ARC classes to earn their Certification. Call your local chapter of the ARC to verify, and ask about their classes for lifeguard.
