Lifeguarding!!!! help!?

i am about to take my lifeguarding pretest- 300 yard continuous swim. i am very nervous, i am not an excellent swimmer i am above average id say, anyways i am nervous! is this as hard as it sounds???

  1. it's not hard but you need some endurance. If you're an above average swimmer you should be able to do this. It's not that long.


  2. 300 yards is not that hard, especially if you are an above average swimmer as you say.  If you are going to be a pool lifeguard, don't sweat it.  See if you can get some pool time in somewhere and build up your endurance a little before the test.  

    I was a beach lifeguard for a couple years in college and our daily routine was about a quarter mile in the open ocean.  Dealing with currents and waves while performing rescue training.  Not something I'd advise for someone who is fretting a 300 yard swim but to be a pool lifeguard it should be no problem.  Good luck.
