  1. 1.  Don't get first aid info from Yahoo.

    2.  Go to a reputable cite and learn the symptoms and signs indicating heart attack.  Red Cross may be a good source.

    3.  If I were on a beach and someone appeared to be in distress, or suffering unusual indigestion, I'd talk to them, check for med-alert, call 911 or lifeguard, try to shade them, "face is red, lift the head, face is pale, lift the tail", keep them calm, watch for shock, and of course, if they carry nitro, give it to them.

    4.  If you are studying for an exam, get off Yahoo and go read the real textbook.

    5.  If you are the friend or relative of someone with heart condition, take a Red Cross first aid class, and if possible consult with the person's physician, spouse, etc.

    6. If you are concerned about a specific individual, discuss with that person their wishes, which should be in the form of notarized living will.   Some elderly might prefer to pass away quickly on the beach rather than endure uncomfortable "heroic efforts" and lengthy hospitalization or hospice.

  2. First off, do whatever emergency procedure your pool area has. Usually some form of whistles. Get two lifeguards to attend the person and another one to call 911, and then prepare an AED, if there is one.

Once the person passes out, give them an asprin or if applicable, their heart medicine (a lot of people, especially old people, wear their medicine around their neck). Give CPR (including breaths) and use the AED as needed, probably every few minutes.

NOTE: Check for a lack of a pulse and breathing before you use an AED or give CPR.

  3. dont get info from yahoo answers WERE NOT LIFE GUARDS seriously get it from a professional it could cost someones life
