Why do women like movies where;

1. The man is a jerk, usually hits women.

2. The woman is a victim, sometimes fights back.

3. There is always a "white knight" in the form of another woman, usually a police woman, who is the only person in the police department with any kind of intelligence. The male officers are fools.

4. The movie always ends up in a courtroom where the "bad man" goes to jail.

  1. Well women like to cry so:

    1. Women like to see someone weaker than them (of course they think its terrible, but they want to see that if they were ever in that situation they would know they wouldn't take it or..)

    2. (This piggy backs off of 1) women like to see that if a women is being hit and is the underdog, she can overcome it with the internal strength that she has.

    3. Men have always been shown with high power jobs and women like comfort of seeing that women are not intimidating by having high power jobs and can raise kids at the same time.

    4. We like justice and happy endings (we also like this in romance movies).

  2. You nailed it on the head.

I personally don't watch Lifetime. But, then again, I don't think men are bad...

  3. I haven't encountered many women (especially not feminists) who enjoy any of that c**p. I prefer variation in my movies.

  4. I'm a woman and I don't watch Lifetime.  I don't like dramas.  Give me a good horror, thriller, or action movie any day.  Heck, I'd rather watch Adult Swim on Cartoon Network than Lifetime.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force is my favorite on Adult Swim.   LOL

  5. I don't know. I don't know a lot of girls who like action movies. I love sappy movies like the ones they play on Lifetime. And not all of them deal with what you said. I love Lifetime movies =)

  6. I think you correctly answered your own question.

  7. No clue, I am the total opposite. I guess it just makes a lot of women feel better about themselves!

  8. I love sappy Lifetime movies :-) Maybe its just a chick thing lol, but idk their just emotional and intriguing I love em. All my friends do too. My dad always just leaves the room though lol.

    Love Haleigh<3

  9. 1.  Because then we appreciate the men in our life more, or, at least, I do.

    2.  Because if she fights back even after being a victim of something horrible, we idolize her for her strength, and try to become as strong as her.

    3.  Most women feel more comfortable having another woman as a best friend, just as most men feel more comfortable with another man as a best friend.  Women relate to each others feelings better and understand where the other woman is coming from.  And as for the woman with the most intelligence, well that's just pure *********.  Women like to believe that they are smarter than men, so when it comes to a movie geared toward women, the woman is usually smarter.

    4.  Courtrooms intrigue women, or, at least, all the women I know.  The law is usually an exciting subject, and eanding an emotional movie with a little bit of law and order just makes it even better.

  10. You just summed it up, didn't ya'?

Man hating feminists love that c**p.

  11. Thanks for watching Lifetime tv and summarizing it for me, now I won't have to waste my time watching it.  :)

  12. People have different likes and dislikes.

I could rephrase your question! For example ESPN? TV? why do men like it so much?

Why do men like movies where:

    1.  There is a always a physical conflict that necessitates the main male character to beat up several people.

    .......

The man also always wants his female partner to watch this and does not understand why after two hours of seeing people beat up she does not feel romantic!

  13. what the..? i hate lifetime and i know lots of other girls who hate it too. too much drama and c**p

  14. Why do men like movies where a man is always being portrayed as a tough, masculine, aggressive, emotionless guy who always ends up saving the damsel in destress, but only after he's slept with at least one other girl (the bad S****y one he realises won't make a good partner because she's not domestic enough)?

Personally, i don't like the kind of movies you described. I like good movies. You're just looking for a stab at either feminism or women who like to watch these shows because they like feeling as though women can actually help themselves in these kinds of situations (especially considering how often domestic violence actually does victimise women in reality).

I'm just going to assume that you're a nice guy and you don't like it when men get portrayed as "bad men". In which case you should research statistics about how women are treated by men. Then you should research the history of women and how hard they had to fight for liberation from men. Then, hopefully, you'll realise that, even though you are a nice guy, women have to put up with alot and sometimes it's nice to watch something that reflects that.

  15. what??????ok is this your woman?I like movies where men hit woman and then the woman takes a stance and don't put up with their c**p..What am i saying..ya we look for movies with the qualities you mentioned  !!?! to funny..we like things that help us feel, happy ,sad, scared, angry, fear etc...where did you get such a concept...poor guy you have been hurt by woman or as g*y as they come and have no understanding of woman what so ever

  16. it's a form of pornography called mental masturbation.

    And chicks dig it.

  17. I don't know its just interesting. And can relate to anything.

  18. I don't like Lifetime. I watched a movie about a father who was molesting his children on that channel when I was 10 and it traumatized me. I cried for hours after watching that movie. 10 years later, whenever anyone has that channel on, I tell them to turn it off.

The only thing that I like about Lifetime is that they show reruns of "The Golden Girls." I'll tune in for that. Gotta love Dorothy, Sophia (R.I.P.), Rose, and Blanche.

  19. There are also quite a few movies where the woman is married to a wonderful man, but some outside/force threatens her family. She then has to protect her family, sometimes with the help of her wonderful husband. Domestic violence, and danger to the family are issues that are all too common and are therefore the subjects of many movies created for women. One might well ask why so many movies targeted for men have a young woman who needs their protection or involve the man defending his family or reacting to the tragic loss of said family. Finally, don't complain about the oxygen channel, and I won't complain about The Man Show. :)

  20. I do not like to watch Lifetime, in fact I find it rather boring as ever.  I have better things to do then watch depressing, horrible, lame @ss drama like that! =P

  21. I'd rather not to spend my time watching depressing, poorly written, horribly acted, misandristic propaganda.

  22. It's called EMOTION!

    1.  We all know someone who either is or was a jerk and when he gets the **** kicked out of him we all feel good.

    2.  The victim triumphs!  Classic!

    3.  Happy ever after, we again triumph!

    4.  Bad men always get what they deserve on TV.  Don't you watch cartoons???

This can also be applied to men!

    1.  Men like to see their subordinates who try to get them in ****, actually get taken down a peg, ever watch 'wrastling?'

    2.  Men LOVE to overachieve.  Again, classic!

    3.  Men love to imagine that they are the best!  Check out all those action movies where the guy that got lost in some bad stuff ends up being the good guy, gets the girl and the booty?  Not to mention lots of s*x!?  HELLO?  Classic!

    4.  Men love to see the scum of the earth kicked down and imagine that they are like that too.  Again, cartoons are the embodiment of that thought too!

  23. I don't watch it.

  24. Personally I don't watch "LifeWhine" as I call it... but I can appreciate why others do.  Remember though, most of those movies were made in the '70's thru the late '80's.

They were considered "current topics" at the time.  Before this period, you NEVER saw the seemier side of life, marriages, domestic violence, drinking and drugs on TV.

Before that time, women on TV wore pearls and high heels as they vacuumed or cooked and were the perfect Moms, and men ALL went to work in suits and ties and were the perfect Dads and husbands.

Those movies were trying to portray (the sometimes grim) reality over the fantasy of the 50's and 60's TV family.  Life really WASN'T like "Happy Days" and "Father Knows Best" for anyone, much as some of us would like to believe that... these movies were trying to reflect that.

By the way, the "poor victimized woman" in those movies was just as often "saved" by a good, honest man (cop, lawyer, detective, etc) as another woman.  They almost always showed women supporting her (group therapy, couselors, support groups, etc) but a man was very often still the hero even in those movies.

Lifetime movies need to be kept in their time perspective... but I don't watch them simply because they don't appeal to me.
