Lifting Weights and Losing Weight?

Does lifting weights burn fat in that area? Like if you were to lift 1000 dumbells per day - would that lead to lost weight on arms and strenghened muscles? I mean just dumbells etc... not bench press or any other extreme weight lifting.

  1. what you are refering to is called spot training, but it doesnt work like that fat is burn't all over when doing exercise. though your arms will tone from weights. however there is some research to suggest if you do your weights then 20 mins of cardio, then fat will burn quicker in the area that you were working with the weights

  2. yes but it will take longer if you havn't got a good diet or aren't fit. You should use dumbells and start running to increase your endurance so you can lift them for longer. Als, try to eat a balanced diet!

  3. weight training like that would lead temporary weight fluctuations because while you would burn fat used also gain muscle and muscle weighs more than fat, but as you gained muscle you speed up your metabolism so in the end it would help in burning more fat and losing weight

  4. more muscle means you burn more fat but just more fat in general.lets say you had a fat stomach and you did sit ups-the muscle would grow under the fat making your stomach look bigger.good food and excercise help the most
