  1. To lose weight you must burn more calories than you consume.

It doesn't matter how much you burn you can always eat more than you use.

You must eat healthy and control your caloric intake.

Lifting weights helps you burn calories because muscles use more energy than fat, so the more muscles you have the faster you burn calories.

Besides it is healthier to be strong all over, not just in your lower body.

Run, lift weights, eat healthy and you will weigh what you should weigh.

  2. It's always best to do a combination of everything. Running is the quickest way to lose weight, especially when done daily or 4+ times a week.  Cardio is also great when sustained and done on a regular basis as well. It's important to know that lifting weights will not necessarily help you lose weight unless it is rigorous lifting done without much rest. You should really consult a trainer before you get involved with weight training. But if you just want to lose the weight, get out there and run. Hope that helped.
