Light Brownish Spotting and Light Cramping?

I am having light brownish spotting and cramping. Its only there when I wipe but many people have said this can be the first sign of miscarriage or missed miscarriage. It has a bit of clear discharge in it.I am so worried. I called my nurse and they want me to go in for an ultrasound tomorrow morning.

I am only about 5 1/2 mayybe 6 weeks along. It is hard to know when I ovulated because I am somewhat irregular. I had an ultrasound done at 4 1/2 weeks and they saw NOTHING. I am so worried, does anyone have any advice about the spotting/cramping and or the ultrasound? Will they be able to see a heartbeat this early?

Yes, you will be able to see a heartbeat.  If they can't see anything on an abdominal ultrasound tell them that you want a transvaginal.  They are much more accurate.  I know that it is scary, I have had more than 10 miscarriages and none are exactly the same.  I can tell you from my experiences that the surest sign of a miscarriage is when you start to see very dark red or brown blood.  There is usually a lot of blood and also usually clots.  Clots that are bigger than a quarter mean an immediate call to the doctor.  Also, if you pass anything that big you need to keep it also.  Or if you are bleeding through an overnight pad in less than 4 hours.  Anything else really isn't much to worry about.  I know it is hard not to freak out, but you need to try.  Nothing is harder on a developing fetus than stress.  Good Luck.

I'm sorry you're bleeding.  It is very scary to go through something like that.  It is true that it may be a sign of miscarriage, but no need to worry needlessly because it could be something else.  My sister-in-law bled for months throughout her pregnancy and now has a 9 1/2 month old beautiful, healthy baby boy.  Hopefully it is something like that that you are dealing with and not anything serious.  It sucks not knowing if the bleeding is okay or not, but you've already taken the right steps and gotten in for an ultrasound tomorrow.  Try and hang in there until then...for you AND the baby!  Good luck at your appointment!
