Light Welterweight champion Timothy Bradley refuses to go against Amir Khan – Boxing news
The World Boxing Council and World Boxing Organisation’s Light Welterweight Champion Timothy Bradley has withdrawn his interest from his potential unification fight with Britain’s Pride, Amir Khan.
The Bolton fighter has been left again without an opponent to fight with after Bradley’s decision.
The fight was decided to take place on July 23, 2011 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. However, after the refusal by Bradley’s management, Khan’s people and boxing fans from all around the world are disappointed to hear about the news.
It has been pointed out that the basic reason of Bradley’s withdrawal is that there are less chances of this bout to happen. According to Bradley, he has to deal with a serious issue with his current promoter regarding the dispute settlement. However, at
the end of this month the pair’s contract is going to be void. In this way, the fight cancellation chances are definite.
According to Khan, he has been struggling to find an appropriate competitor since his last winning performances against Paul McCloskey.
Khan said, “I wanted to fight Bradley to unify the division, but he pulled out, he doesn't want to fight.”
The selection of next possible opponent could be a difficult one once again in a sense that Juan Manuel is next priority for Khan’s team but he is continuously looking at Manny Pacquiao to arrange a fight between them.
“We were looking at (Juan Manuel) Marquez, but he is looking at fighting Manny Pacquiao,” he said.
If the Juan Manuel vs. Amir Khan fight negotiations do not come to an end to finalise the fight, then there are very few options left for Khan. The possible candidates after Bradley for Khan on agreed terms are Robert Guerrero and Zab Judah. Let’s see who
the Britain’s best takes on in his next fight now.
