Question:

Light as a feather, stiff as a board version?

When I was younger my friends and I tried the "light as a feather, stiff as a board" game only we used a different chant. I think it went something like She is pale, she is . . . something something, and I think it finished with She is dead. Does anyone have any idea what I'm talking about? It's been buggin' me for ages. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Laura

  1. Wikipedia (link below) mentions something about a version involving a person being told about their death but I couldn't find the actual chant.

  2. Yeah,, cheerleaders use it as an exercise in America sometimes when they're practicing flying. It involves someone lying down on the floor and the lots of people standing around them. The people standing around start talking as if the person laying down is dead, they describe how they died and what they look like, then they bend down and hold the person on the floor firmly and start lifting them up, as they are lifting them up they chant "light as a feather stiff as a board" over and over again, then when they've got you to about shoulder height they say "she is dead" and drop you, catching you before you hit the ground.

I did it once,, it's quite amusing cause it feels like you're flying sort of. It's not dangerous or anything though. Unless you drop them on the floor.

  3. Don't mess around with this.  My oldest daughter and some friends did this at a sleep over and she was the one being held up.  She said it was weird, but the worst part was she felt that there was a prescense and she was fighting for her soul.  She freaked out and scared her friends so bad that they never did this again.  She is still spooked by the whole experience.
