  1. Sound is a form of energy. But it needs a medium to propagate. Like air or metal... If there is no air, you cannot make sound to move... Sound doesn't travel through vacuum

    Light on the other hand does not require any material medium. It can pass through vacuum. That is because light is electro-magnetic. It doesn't need a medium as such because the electric and magnetic fields support its propagation. Sound however works by making medium molecules to vibrate...
