  1. you Americans are so filthy.... in my house we aint got none carpets only floors... and once they get dirty we just mop them... not like with carpets... it looks like you took a s**t there

  2. Your going to have to make a cheap foam from washing up liquid

dont pour on solution,  you just need the foam

rub it in   aggitate with a stiff brush and try and dry the muck off with a towel

Those aerosols work well....  best if you can buy them in a bargain store for a quid

Best thing I did was hire a machine...   only 20 a weekend...  but 50 deposit  which you get back....

I wrote my carpets off three years ago,  but one quick session around the house... and they still are as good ...  money well spent

Save up and try it !!

  3. Don't use anything that lathers--no soap or detergents. It's very hard to get them out of the carpet, they stay in, they attract more dirt after they've dried. Use something recommended for spot cleaning carpets, or try a spray meant for windows, Spray whatever it is in, let it sit briefly, blot with white towels or rags, or paper towels. Don't use anything coloured in case the colour comes out onto the carpet. Press hard, to get all the liquid out. If you have areas that aren't stained but are slightly grubby-looking, as often happens where you walk most, you can clean them some with a towel by dampening the towel with your cleaning solution, rubbing it across the grubby area. After it's really dry, give it a good vacuuming.

  4. I agree with the White vinegar and water answers if you are just looking for a home remedy. If you are willing to spend a little on cleaning product to get it looking really nice, I recommend always having a Spray bottle of Rug Dr. Spot Remover and a bottle Of Rug Dr. Pet Stain remover. They each remove different types of stains. The Pet Stain Remover is not only for pet stains but works great on alkaline stains like coffee tea and red wine as well. Remember to always blot and not rub when removing spots. After spot treatmenting for overall cleaning I recommend a spray foam like Woolite foam carpet and upholstery cleaner. The cheaper Sams club (Walmart brand works pretty well too)You just spray it and sponge mop it in with a sponge mop , let it dry and then vacuum. If you do these things I think you will be very happy how it will turn out.

  5. Oxy Clean. Mix some with water and go for it! Works very well!!!

  6. i have the same problem. i use 1001 cleaning spray for carpets and upholstrey theres is a foam kind as well which is better than the spray

  8. Sorry... hire a cleaning machine - £24.50 for a day or £40 for a weekend.

Its hardly a luxury seeing you'd only need to do it once every year or so - a luxury would be buying a new carpet!

Everyones carpet should be wet washed at some point...

The alternative would be spending £10-20 on various carpet cleaning solutions, enough to cover the entire floor, and literally scrubbing every inch. Then drying it. Then redoing over any stubborn bits.

  9. You could buy a carpet spray for cleaning.  I have tried it and it works great!

  10. Vacuuming is the most effective method for removing stains from your carpet, try to vacuum at least twice a week if not  more.  Most common household stains can be removed with club soda or white vinegar and water.  For your not so common stains, feel free to post more specific stains and i will answer them then.  I have been in the carpet cleaning industry for over 20 years.

  11. I love the Woolite Carpet Stick.  If you do not want to spend the money on it, I have used a mixture of white vinegar and water and just scrubbed.  I have also used baking soda and water with some scrubbing and have gotten stains up.
