Light bulb question!?

Ok, I just put in a new ceiling fan with the light fixture. It requires a 60 watt candelabra bulb and that little thing isn't cutting it. What can I do?

Please, this dim light is going to drive me insane!

  1. If that's what's recommended then that's what it takes. Any bulb that's larger runs the risk of overheating the fan. Perhaps, you could buy a stand up lamp if you need something brighter and closer to you.

  2. Yeah, go fluorescent.

  3. i have the same problem, and my solution was simply to add another lamp to the room so that when brighter light was needed (or wanted) just turn on a side lamp.

  4. I bought 2 Hunter Fans on sale at Home depot for about $60.00, It took the little candelabra bulbs.  I changed light sockets to so  I could use CFB  they are only 23 watts, it was hard job.  I would take it down and take it back, or you are going to be stuck with 60 watt bulbs unless you change socket.  I did this on 2 fans.  I think manufacture did this to save a buck.

    Good Luck

  5. try a mini florecent 100 watt output 23watt usage

  6. The only way you can improve the lighting from the fan would be to purchase another light fixture that is compatible with the fan you have and install that, making sure that it will handle more than one bulb and of a standard socket size.   Otherwise, you could get some lamps to set around the room.
