Light control unit - opinions?

Question

I have recently bought a new double controller and was wondering about a timer plug on it. As the unit has a switch on it, is it OK to use in conjunction with a timed plug? Can these damage my unit and would I need to replace it sooner than if I didn't use one.

I just don't want to set this up and then have problems with the unit as a result of using the plug. Do you use a timer plug and has it affected your equipment?

I have used a timer before and have had no issues with my equipment.

Yes and no.

All that a timer does is control the time the unit comes on and off - there is no difference between the timer switching the power on and you doing it yourself by flicking a switch.

Its still the same voltage and everything...
