Light doesn't work. Hello, I have a white Hampton Bay ceiling fan that has been in my apartment

Hello, I have a white Hampton Bay ceiling fan that has been in my apartment for that last 5 years. A few months ago the light stopped working. I bought a new light bulb (its that white loop shaped bulb) and replaced it but it still doesn't work. I do not know the model of my fan. All I can tell you its white, its on the celing and tha light comes with a glass shade that you just sort of turn around and it comes off. Please, please help me.
