was looking forward to being the first fighter to bring boxing back to the Royal Albert Hall in over a decade and the first of the century.”
Cleverly was not just excited about his fight but he was also excited to find out who wins between Bernard Hopkins, heavyweight champion, and Chad Dawson in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Previously, Cleverly had expressed that he wants to fight the winner of
Hopkins vs. Dawson.
According to Cleverly, it was a big night for him since Hopkins was facing Dawson and that he was looking forward to perform well against Krasniqi in order to earn a fight against the winner of Hopkins vs. Dawson.
Expressing disappointment over the situation, Cleverly apologized to his fans. He added that he is happy that the show will still go on and other great fighters like Billy Joe Saunders, Sam Webb and Matthew Hall will now be headlining the card.
On the other hand, Frank Warren, who owns the show, said that it is a shame that Cleverly has been suffering with a viral infection at such a crucial time in his career. He added that Cleverly cannot fight and he needs to rest in order to get back to his
health before thinking about another bout.
It should be noted here that the event will take place at the Royal Albert Hall and now Billy Joe Saunders vs. Tony Hill will be headlining the card. Both the fighters will be fighting for the vacant English middleweight title.
