  1. In an "average" home a television will almost ALWAYS use more power than a standard light bulb.  Mainly because the TV is drawing power for a number of reasons beyond providing simple illumination.  Sound, remote use (i.e., channel surfing), temperature control, etc.

  2. Television uses far more electricity than a bedroom light. However, if you are looking to reduce your carbon footprint and reduce your electricity bill you should began purchasing flourescent bulbs instead of using incandescent bulbs. They are much cooler, burn longer, and will reduce your monthly killowatt hours.

  3. Safety first. You can stare at the TV for hours with little problem. If you stare at a 100 watt light bulb for hours, you will probably go blind.

  4. the tv comes with a remote and will keep u company the light dont so it shouldnt matter.

  5. It all depend which type are you using. Like if you are using a regular bulb of 100 W, if you turn if on for 1 hr., it will burn the same amount that of energy that being burnt by a power saver of 18 w and it is turned on for 5 hrs. For TV the very same rule applies. Now days there are low energy sets available in the market. But still it depend which type or size are you using, a 72” or 21”?? It’s your will.

  6. well it all depends on the size, a 1200watt lightbulb uses alot more than a 13 inch tube screen...
