Light red spotting after s*x ?

Hi,

I am wondering if someone could help me. I finished a menstrating cycle on Aug 22nd and my SO and I had s*x on the 24th and this morning (25th) and I have light red spotting happening... I am too early for ovulation to be pregnant but am wondering why this has happened - s*x was nothing out of the ordinary (not rough).

if you are on birth control pills or patch, sometimes irregular spotting can occur even when you don't have your periods.
