Light speed thoughts

just wondering, might be weird or stupid to u...idk. tell me where im wrong and where im right, if im even right lol. btw im 15 so be easy on me

the speed of light varies from its source. i based this off the big bang problem where all matter that exploded went faster than the speed of light. but nothing can go faster than the speed of light without time stopping. but you will say it was the start of time, but still the matter exist within the time. therefore it would be traveling backwards in time at the point of the beginning of time...idk. another reason is say you got the light from the sun, and the light from a supernova. the light from the supernova is faster than the light from the sun, saying that both are traveling the same distance and to the same object. so what is the source if time cant exist if its the same speed as light? wouldnt the source have to be infinite? isnt everything approaching the speed of light or at least trying? what if light is the source, and all other light we see is just weaker light approaching the source? what if everything in the universe is light? what if we are all just lesser light or a type of wave aproaching the main light? i know by now you think im nuts, so i will just say this to make it even nuttier...And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.

  1. It is accepted by most researcher that the big bang created the universe.

think about throwing a stone into a pond the you will see ripple forming and slowly disappeared.

The big bang send heavy elements out in various direction. The tremendous amount of energy will eventually die off (which might take many billions of years but as far as we know the universe is still increasing its speed of expansion; still slower than speed of light. However it will eventually slow down and stop growing) Nothing can last forever except  time which seems infinite.

Time is a component of a measuring system human create use to sequence events, to compare the durations of events and the intervals between them, and to quantify the motions of objects. Time will not cease to exist. Time even existed before the big bang. Because there are sequence of events that lead to the big bang and it takes time.

For other intelligent life form a second (s) on their planet could be a min on Earth or how many seconds does a min has. thier from of time will be very different from earth.

If you are traveling faster than speed of light does it stop the time to tick ? No. Time will carry on moving non stop no matter where you are or how fast you travel. But if you do that you could do amazing things though.

Human is a very young species. Our knowledge about space are still at an infant stage. There are much things to learn.

So some writers or researchers think that since time is moving forward all the while there must be a way we can move it backward. Thats why most science friction has concept suggested that traveling faster than speed of light one could possibly gone back to past.

There are a few ideas (They are not theory as theory is something that could be proven) on the web according one popular idea "special relativity", in the case of a hypothetical signal moving faster than light, there would always be some frames in which the signal was received before it was sent, so that the signal could be said to have moved backwards in time.

If Speed of light is the absolute constant of maximum achievable speed and going faster than that we might really be going back in time.

However until someone proven that their idea are true, Time travel will remain as a friction for now.

  2. well, light is photons. gravity has an effect on photons, strong gravity can bend their "path" and really strong gravity can pull them back (black hole).

time is another deal. it is also affected by gravity and velocity. but we won't feel it in our generation. so don't worry about it.

  3. The laws of physics are simpler in higher dimensions.

I'm not sure if time is real or if it exists (I drive myself crazy about this little idea, and people think I'm crazy about saying that, my explanation is complicated) but you should get into theoretical physics, it sounds like you'd do well in that area.

  4. Are you sure you are only 15, you have some very bright ideas which is the basis for a great mind.  You are forming your own thoughts about things which is very good.  Well the speed of light is absolute around 300,000 km / second or 186,000 miles per second.  Maybe the speed of light always travels the same rate but maybe it is time that is slowing down.  Maybe you can be a place where a second is really as long as two seconds and hence the speed of light would really seem  like it is only half as fast.  Maybe this is why light cannot escape a black hole.  Think of a blanket and there are people all around it holding it stretched out and tight.  This blanket is going to represent time.  Now take a golf ball and set it on this stretched out blanket.  What happens?  There is a small curvature in the blanket from the golf ball.  This curvature represents gravity and the effect mass has on time.  This golf ball represents the earth.  Now take a bowling ball and basketball and set it on the blanket.  An even bigger dimple is now set in the blanket and if the golf ball is close enough to it it will roll in to the basketball.  This basketball represents the sun.  Now take a bowling ball and set it on the blanket.  Pretend it rips a hole in the blanket (which is time) and falls through taking the golf ball and basketball with it.  The bowling ball represents a black hole.  Now at this point it is hard to debate actually what happens to the objects that fell through the hole.  Some believe that they might have traveled to a different place in the universe or to another dimension.  I personally believe that they are still right there, but just in another time.  And that is the reason you don't see them because they are there in a sense, but just not at the same time you are.

There are other theories out there that matter is just a concentrated form of energy such as light.  But I guess as time progresses more questions are raised every time an answer is found.  Goodluck and keep searching for answers.

  5. You seem to have found some really good dope.

  6. oh i love it!

yes, were all just lesser light.

do you believe in the big bang andd god?

    interesting :]

    but you are wrong,

something can too go faster than the speed of light,

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faster-than...

  7. You start out with an incorrect premise: the speed of light is constant, wherever and however measured.  (This is a basic principle of Einsteinian relativity.)  And you cannot usefully bring "god" into a scientific question.

  8. Whoa....that's a lot for me to take in at midnight!  You sound pretty damned smart to me.  I may have to reanalyze this in the morning so I can absorb more....
