Question:

Lightening does it always strike towards earth or can it strike up towards space?

i was just testing to see if anybody knew, lightening can actually strike up, these upward strikes are called sprites. here endith the leason

  1. Actually I have heard it goes up from the earth to the clouds.


  2. Lightning would only strike down towards the ground because clouds and the earth have differently charged ions. Space doesn't so it wouldn't work. (I think)

  3. Actually, despite the other answers, it has been found that special kinds of lightning do strike up toward space also.  They are called "red sprites" and "blue jets" and they can go more than 50 miles upward.  There is a nice web page with descriptions and photos here

  4. dou know the term 'gravitation' evolved by newton .......Light is also the matter just like that apple which fell on the newton oops upon the earth. so......what u learn
