Did anyone see the spectacular lightening over london tonite without thunder!? There was 'fork' lightning appearing completely horizontally! Looked like something out of War of the Worlds! I never saw lightning without thunder before...what caused this?

  1. All lightning produces thunder.  There are some reasons why you may have not heard any thunder.  The lightning may have been so far away and/or high enough that the thunder weakened below audible levels before it reached you.  Maybe you were shielded from the sound of the thunder.  Maybe the outside sounds were loud enough to overpower the more faint sound of the thunder.

  2. its called heat lightening.. we have it in america alt he time.. well where i live at we do... if its in the clouds then its heat lightening but if it goes to the ground then you should be hearing some kind of thunder
