  1. You don't want it on your person as that will make it far more likely that it will be noticed.

If you bury it in your carry on it is very unlikely that it will be noticed as security at every airport is not all what they are trying to make it out to be.

It's a bic right? If they take it no biggie. You pack a few paper book (not box) matches here and there in your stuff so when you get to where you are going you can light up.

  2. When I was working as a screener my airport did a study about how much time we (screeners) spent looking for lighters as opposed to explosives, guns and knives (and other weapons). Turns out that there were WAYYYY too many bag checks for lighters so the TSA changed the rules. You can bring regular butane lighters (like your Bic) in your carry on, no problem.

  3. Nowadays, most airports in the US have a service that allows you to mail your lighters and other things not allowed on the plane home or wherever they need to go, and they're around the security gates.

  4. As of August 4, 2007, in an effort to concentrate resources on detecting explosive threats, TSA will no longer ban common lighters in carry-on luggage. Torch lighters remain banned in carry-ons.

  5. yeah you can take the lighter in your pocket or in your back pack ecc. I always travel by air around europe and asia but i never encountered hassles regarding lighters (i'm a smoker) during security controls as long as you do not exceed the limit.. check out the website www.faa.gov/passengers/

  6. your allowed to carry one lighter per person in your pocket and or in your carry on,if you have 2 or more they will seize the extras and it could cost you time and frustration.and no one regular lighter will not go off in a metal detector.
