Lighter in Luggage?

i just bought this expensive ALIFE (brand) $5 lighter for my brothers and i am going to visit them this friday. can i have this in my luggage Not the Carry-on without being serch or have it taken away. what about a box of Ducth Masters cigars.

If it doesn't have gas in it already you might have no problem.

I was once told to keep lighters ON me, rather than in checked bags, because if it accidentally lit I'd know about it a lot sooner if it was in my pocket than if it was in the checked bag. Call your airline or look on their webpage to check

As long as you check it rather then bring it on your carry on, you will be fine. the cigars most likely as long as your not traveling out of the country. If you are, customs might give you a hard time.

Yes, it's okay if you pack it in your checked luggage.  As long as you aren't going through customs, you won't need to access them until you meet your brother after disembarkation.

It is wise to look up the requirements, regulations, and restrictions for the airline with which you'll be flying.  They do sometimes vary.

BIC and absorbed fuel lighters (Zippo type) are allowed on carry on luggage and they don't care about the cigars as long as you don't try to light one in flight.

no your really not supposed to bring lighters in your luggage your best bet is to send it in the mail or just put it in your bag and hope it won't get a random search.

All of that stuff should be fine on your checked luggage. You still might be searched regardless (I've been searched twice for suspicious items. One was a necklace, the other was my cell phone). The cigars will be fine (even on a carry-on). If you really feel uneasy about getting the lighter taken away you can always mail it ahead of you. Most airports have a place where you can do this. Or just go to the post office.
