Lighters and matches on Aircraft from Manchester Airport.?

Hello, i was wondering if anybody had information on wheather it is legal to take either matches or a lighter on an aircraft? I know you cannot take lighters in your hand luggage, but what about in your suitcase? Also, i read about safety matches being allowed in your hand luggage, but i'm unsure if this is true. Any help would be really appreciated as i'm a smoker and tomorrow will be my first time flying, so i'm fairly nervous so i will need nicotine as soon as i get off the flight hehe.

Thanks.

  1. you will have to wait and see on the day ,as they keep changing the rules, good luck

  2. The present situation is that it's fine on your person but not in check-in luggage - it keeps changing though...

  3. i fly through here 3 times a year -dont worry just put your lighter in your pocket/handluggage youll be fine-they do often take them off you when u go through security so then u just buy one in the airport shop

  4. 1 lighter & 1 pack of saftey matches per person

  5. buy a new one once through security and keep the reciept they should put it in a clear plastic bag and you will be fine... there is loads of people standing outside when you get through i normally catch a light of them lol x have a great time flying x
