Lighting and Sound Careers and Jobs?

Question

I have always been interested in light and sound design (mostly at concerts) and was wondering how could i get into a job or something that will help me get involved into that field ?

i dont really want to go through my schools theature program just because i dont like it but yeah help me

There are two ways into the industry:

1. Get involved with community and amateur theatre.  Be prepared to start at the bottom, sweeping the stage, and as you gain experience and knowledge, you'll move up through the ranks.  Local hire companies also often need help - but there will  be a lot of pushing road cases.  As you increase your knowledge, paid work will often start to come your way and you take it from there.

2. Go to drama school and study technical theatre - this will give you a flying start into the industry.

I agree - you may have to start as a volunteer but if you find a theater in your area that may need help, that's the best way to get started.
