Lighting for portraits?

I'm looking for information on photography lighting equipment. What sort of lights should I use for taking portraits? The cheaper the better. Links to products would be wonderful. Thank you!

  1. If you are on a budget check eBay.  Here is a link to one that will give you idea of what to look for as far as the equipment goes.  I'm not suggesting you buy from this dealer but it will give you an idea of what to look for.  Adorama and BH photo have listings but if you don't know what you are specifically looking for then this might help.  You will need a good main light, a fill light, and a small light in the back for hair or to separate subject from background.
