Lightnin Hopkins eager to complete hat-trick at Curragh
The G. M. Lyons trained bay gelding, Lightnin Hopkins, has always done well over yielding surfaces, thus, we can expect that he will repeat the same in his maiden Curragh trip that includes the high-profile race of Go And Go Round Tower Stakes (Group 3).
On the yielding course of 6 furlongs, the two-year-old novice horse will run alongside a dozen of rivals with an aim to complete his hat-trick that is due after his two back-to-back triumphs at Naas.
The son of Kodiac out of Bundle Of Joy started his career on June 13, 2012, finishing second in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund 2yo Auction Maiden. That race took place at Fairyhouse. The surface was good to yielding.
The maverick Irish gelding did not wait long to break his maiden as the very next race entitled as Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Auction Maiden proved to be an ideal chance for him to do so. This time, he experienced the purely yielding track
of Naas.
The Sean Jones owned young gelding earned the favourite tag for his third start and accomplished another grand victory. That was Breda Miley Race, held at Naas.
With these three excellent podium finishes, Lightnin Hopkins has proved his class well, making the punters felt that he can be impressive in every sort of race conditions.
Hopefully, the brilliant horse will bag third straight success while running under his regular jockey Gary Carroll. A number of the race lovers are waiting for the contest to enjoy the way Lightnin Hopkins sizzles.
Despite all this, success is not going to be smooth for the gelding as George Vancouver will prove to be a tough rival to beat. The A. P. O'Brien trained bay colt also debuted in June 2012 and broke his maiden on July 16 with the ace title of the Irish Stallion
Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden.
The American runner moved on to finish as the runner-up in his last start entitled as Darley Prix Morny (Group 1) (2yo Colts & Fillies) (Turf).
Thus, a neck-to-neck battle is expected with Lightnin Hopkins having higher chances to thrive.
