Lightning Cloud likely to succeed in Betfair Summer Double International Stakes (Heritage Handicap)
Lightning Cloud has got a great chance of winning the Betfair Summer Double International Stakes (Heritage Handicap) at Ascot in England on Saturday, July 21, 2012. A cash prize of £62,250 has been set for the important class-2 event.
The competition will be a close one, as a total number of 29 entries have been named for the race. There might be some non-runners in the list, but no confirmation has been made by their respective trainers as yet.
Speed will play an important role in determining the winner of today’s race, as the participants will have to cover an overall distance of 7 furlongs. They will have to be extremely quick at the start, as it will be difficult for any runner to bounce back
after a sluggish beginning.
Although it will be extremely hard for the punters to choose their favourite, yet they have got some very good runners, whom they can rely upon. One of them is, Lightning Cloud, who can be as quick as his name suggests. He will enjoy the good going at Ascot
and his team will be expecting that the weather remains dry throughout the day.
The young gelding has been given a general starting price of 10 to 1 by the bookies, but he will have to be at his absolute best in order to meet their expectations. He has got a decent winning percentage, which means he is a confident performer.
The four-year-old runner has taken part in a dozen events until now and prevailed in five of them. In addition to that, he has finished runner up once, which shows that he is quite capable of giving a tough time to his opponents.
Sleeping Indian’s son made his debut in the sport back in September 2010. He was unable to make an impression back then, finishing 11th in his first ever outing. Afterwards, he took part in a couple of more events that year, but failed to entertain
his fans.
However, things went really well for the Kevin Ryan’s trainee in 2011, as he managed to bring up five victories that year. One of those came at Ascot, which is a positive sign.
Despite having such a strong season, Lightning Cloud has disappointed his team in the ongoing season until now. He has participated in a couple of races this year, but failed to deliver a good result. He has a great chance of making amends today under seasoned
jockey, Amy Ryan.
