Lights in sky above Cropredy - Perseid meteor shower?

Whilst we were at Cropredy festival last week, my friends and myself witnessed strange orange lights in the sky that disappeared after a minute or so.

Am I right in thinking that they would have been part of the Perseid meteor shower?

It was above Cropredy, Oxfordshire around 12-1am Friday night/Saturday Morning (8th-9th August).

Did anyone else see them?

A perseid meteor would not be visible for a minute.  Not even close.  The longest ones usually have a tough time breaking the one second barrier in the visible light part of the electromagnetic spectrum.

Sounds more like Chinese lanterns or aircraft to me. Meteors don't remain visible for a minute or so. They streak across the sky and are usually gone in less than a second.
