700bhp: O to 60 in less than 4 sec....

250 miles for a10 minute charge.....

really sounds too good to be true.

Ok, it probably cost a fortune to buy, but how long have the oil companys been 'sitting' on this technology ????

If the specs are true, they could down grade it to a 'Normal' car...then we wouldn't need petrol anymore.... Whats the catch?

  1. Noway 10 minute charging my iPOD even take longer than that.

  2. I was reading one of the car mags in the doctors waiting room the other day. It tested a car which looked suspiciously like this one. The spec was similiar but the charging time was 3.5 hours. Ok if you can charge up overnight on cheap rate electricity. The price tag was £79000. So yes I believe it but I'll wait until it goes into mass production before I buy one.

It begs the question that if manufacturers have batteries with this sort of range, why is Gordon Brown getting into bed with GM over a hybrid car with a battery range of 40 miles and a diesel engine to boost the range.

  3. It seems that way but not a 10 minute charge.

  4. the altair nano batteries http://www.b2i.us/profiles/investor/full... will charge in 10 minutes, but not from a standard domestic 13A supply; but any service station could be equiped to charge you up while you have a coffee

at home or work you can plug it in and any surplus power (a car with a 250miloe range that only does an average 40mile commute has a lot spare) can be sold back to the grid http://www.acpropulsion.com/technology/v... and recharged at off-peak rates. This distributed power storage will optimise the grid saving a couple of power stations, and essential when we have to become dependant on renewables like wind with variable power supply

see also the Phoenix SUT that will use them http://www.phoenixmotorcars.com

We haven't needed petrol for most of our personal transport for years, see http://www.whokilledtheelectriccar.com. but the likes of GM crushed all their evs despite user demand, and sold the battery patents to Chevron/texaco who then sued Toyota for lots of money & stoped them making/developing the Rav4ev

And the UK media would rather crash a 250mph jet dragster than support a 350mph electric http://www.bluebirdelectric.com/ that has been sitting in Wales for the last 4 years trying to get sponsorship

  5. Yes.  It's basically a Tesla Roadster (which are already on the road), except it has the ability for a 10 minute recharge.  Altair is making batteries with a simlar rapid recharge ability (at special high voltage recharge stations), so I believe this claim.

Oil companies haven't been 'sitting on this technology'.  It's a new development.  There is no catch - electric cars are the transportation of the future.  See the link below.
