US Palermo defender Federico Balzaretti has reportedly been seen in the outskirts of Paris with rumours suggesting that the 30-year-old might sign a contract with Paris Saint-Germain in the coming hours.
Reports in French media suggest that Italian international http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Federico-Balzaretti-c13451 has arrived in Paris with rumours flying that the left-back might be signing a contract with Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain.
The former Juventus defender has long since been linked with a move to PSG as sporting director http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sylvain-Armand-c34429.
Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has already admitted that the defender will leave the Sicilian side in the near future. However, the Palermo supreme had ruled out a move in the upcoming winter transfer window.
The Italian’s wife is a dancer at the Paris Opera and it has been argued that Balzaretti’s main reason to move to Paris is also due to the fact that he wants to stay close to his wife.
L’Equipe now claims that the defender is now in the headquarters of Paris Saint-Germain. While an agreement between the player and PSG was announced several weeks ago, the defender was yet to sign a contract.
New reports now reveal that the player would soon sign a contract with the club and might even arrive at the Parc des Princes as early as January 2012.
Under contract at the club until 2013, Zamparini would be looking to get a fair market value for his player. The Italian owner certainly need not worry about the financial aspect as PSG have previously met Palermo’s demands when the Ile club signed Javier
Pastore in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Salvatore-Sirigu-c32282 in the summer transfer window.
A fee in the region of 5 million Euros is considered to be enough to attain the services of the experienced defender who signed for Palermo in the summer of 2008 from Fiorentina where he played just six Serie A games during a torrid time at the Florence-based
club.
However, at the age of 30, Leonardo knows that the defender is not a permanent solution for the club so young Massadio Haider has already been identified as a potential replacement for the Turin-born defender.
