Ligue 1 special: Olympique de Marseille should try recruiting Benoit Tremoulinas and Moussa Sow this summer
After finishing second in the 2010/2011 Ligue 1, Olympique de Marseille should delve into the current transfer window and make changes in key areas where necessary. Unlike cash-laden Paris Saint-Germain, Olympique de Marseille don’t need to spend a lot of
money on players, but the Rhone giants must make changes in certain positions that need to be looked at.
In the now-concluded 2010/2011 Ligue 1 season, Marseille’s defensive frailties were evident and Didier Deschamps is understandably far from convinced with his side’s defensive situation. This is the key area where a lot of improvements need to be made.  Striking
department also left wanting for more this season and Marseille should recruit at least one proven goalscorer ahead of the start of the next season.
Benoit Tremoulinas
The departure of Taye Taiwo to AC Milan and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Taye-Taiwo-c34728. Finding a player like the Nigerian international
is an understandably difficult task so Didier Deschamps will have to do with what’s available.
This is where Benoit Tremoulinas comes in. the Girondins de Bordeaux man was in fine form throughout the season for the Ligue 1 side. Reports suggest that the 25-year-old is under the radar of Marseille along with AS Monaco youngster Nicolas N’Koulou. The
latter is still inexperienced and although is very talented, will take some time to develop in to a seasoned left-back. Tremoulinas on the other hand is almost a finished-product and has enough experience in him to survive the rigours of playing at a club
like Marseille.  The Lormont-born defender is already attracting interest from the likes of Juventus, AC Milan and Fiorentina so Didier Deschamps must act quickly if he is to avoid a tug-of-war with other suitors.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 defender Jeremy Mathieu and Lorient defender Jeremy Morel but in signing Tremoulinas, Didier Deschamps would be getting a proven left-back who has a lot of experience of playing at the top level.
Moussa Sow
Marseille splashed around 15 million Euros for the services of France international Andre-Pierre Gignac. However, the former Toulouse striker’s first season for Marseille was far from a prolific one to say the least. In 29 Ligue 1 appearances, Gignac managed
to score just eight goals – a tally that in no way justifies his hefty price tag. Loic Remy on the other hand scored 15 goals in 31 appearances for Les Phoceens in his first season. Though the former Nice striker was criticised at times by the media, Remy
can be hopeful of an even better next season.
Moussa Sow was in the best form of his career for LOSC Lille this season. The Senegalese scored 25 goals in 35 appearances for Lille and was the topscorer in the Ligue 1 this season. Under Rudi Garcia, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Moussa-Sow-c26939 has become one of the most feared strikers
in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 and is under the radar of a host of European clubs. Signing a quality striker might be a difficult task for Marseille but the Rhone giants should at least try bringing in the striker in order to give competition to the striking department that lacks
quality strikers.
