With the first of the 2012/2013 Ligue 1 Championnat done and dusted, a lot of players have shown that they will have a lot to prove this campaign for their respective futures
The first week of the 2012/2013 Ligue 1 Championnat finished this Sunday after http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 defeat newly-promoted Stade de Reims 2-0 at the Stade August Delaune. The club from Champagne-Ardenne certainly gave the visitors a run for their money
and it appears that Marseille have a lot to prove this season after a forgettable last campaign that saw them miss out on this season’s Champions League.
However, it is not only the Rhone club who have a lot to prove this season. There are some players who start the new season with a lot of expectations.
Bettor.com now takes a look at few of those players who need to perform well in order to prove a point.
Yoann Gourcuff
Club: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130
Position: Midfielder
Nationality: French
The son of Lorient coach, Christian Gourcuff, scored the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win over Frederic Antonetti’s Stade Rennais.
A goal in his first Ligue 1 game certainly shows that Gourcuff has made a great start. Furthermore, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international gave a good account of his talents throughout the game. Although it was no easy game, the former Bordeaux man showed signs of his
old self.
After failing to do anything note worthy since his arrival at Stade de Gerland, the jury is out on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kim-c20955 Kallstrom who left for
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Russia-c2991, a lot of responsibility falls on the shoulders of the 25-year-old.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dimitri-Payet-c11276
Club: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lille-OSC-c39800
Position: Winger
Nationality: French
The France international signed for LOSC Lille from AS Saint-Etienne last summer for a then club record fee of 8 million euros. Upon his arrival at the Villeneuve d’Ascq, a lot was expected from the winger who was seen as a direct replacement for Cote d’Ivoire
international, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gervinho-c14755.
However, Payet started the season as an injured player and thus featured later than expected. Even though he returned to full fitness, the presence of the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Eden-Hazard-c11863 and Benoit Pedretti restricted the player to just cameo appearance.
Throughout the campaign, the Frenchman was criticised for not being a team player among other things. However, the final furlong of the season saw the 25-year-old return to his best which is something the player should use to build on.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ludovic-Obraniak-c22623
Club: FC Girondins de Bordeaux
Position: Midfielder
Nationality: Pole
The Polish international has perhaps played at the Euros for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Poland-c2983 but despite the rigours of the tournament, the Bordeaux midfielder remains in great shape, just like he was last season. The former Lille man arrived at the club in January as a luxury replacement
but a good second half of the campaign made hi m an integral part of the Aquitaine club.
In the first week of the Championnat, Obraniak scored one of the best goals of the first round as Bordeaux won 3-2 against Evian TG. The season could be a defining one for the midfielder as his performance will play a huge role in where the club finishes
this campaign.
