Ligue 1 special: The reconstruction of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 starts under Remi Garde
After much speculation regarding his future at the club, Claude Puel was given his marching orders from the club. Reports suggest that the former AS Monaco coach would now move to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 with Atletico Bilbao his most likely destination.
Many top level and proven coaches were linked with the coaching position at Stade Gerland. The likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paul-c29347 Le Guen were favourites initially. However, Jean-Michel Aulas chose to give an inexperienced Remi Garde the position. The
Frenchman has been given a one year contract that would be renewed annually which means that Jean-Michel Aulas is no more thinking of taking Lyon to the next level.
Claude Puel was appointed the new coach of Lyon in 2008 after Lyon had just won a seventh consecutive Championnat. Much was expected from the man who guided an unfashionable Monaco side to a Ligue 1 title in his first season at the club. However, Puel’s
reign at Lyon spelt the winds of change at the Rhone-based club.
Down to Earth again
Jean-Michel Aulas spent 46 million Euros in the transfer markets of 2009 and 2010 for the services of Lisandro Lopez (2009) and Yoann Gourcuff (2010). The signs were clear from the Lyon supremo. The Les Gones president wanted to see Lyon lift the Champions
League.
However, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Yoann-Gourcuff-c37416 turned out to be somewhat of a flop in his first season at the club. three goals and five assists in 25 appearances in no way justified a hefty amount of 22 million Euros that Lyon paid Bordeaux for his services. The youngster has
simply lost his way since moving to Rhone.
All these signs indicated that Lyon will have to minimise their targets and stop thinking big for a few seasons atleast.
The resurrection
Remi Grade’s nomination can be considered as the renaissance of a club that started the new millennia in phenomenal fashion. With Jeremy Toulalan gone and the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michel-Bastos-c25461 all likely to leave
Les Gones this summer, the club should not be expected to fighting for trophies next season.
The possible sales of the aforementioned players (if all of them are sold) will see Lyon receive atleast 60 million Euros. Lyon, two years ago, would http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Love-c22466 to spend all this money on transfers; however, that is no more the case. With the club under debt of
35 million Euros, Aulas is now looking to cut his losses and is willing to be quite in this summer’s transfer market.
Changes in the staff

N’Guemo (Nancy) and Blaise-Matuidi (Saint-Etienne).
Young blood
With the club looking to rebuild once again, the appointment of Remi Garde is an important one. In recent years, the club has been searching for its identity. However, in Garde the club has found a man who is deeply related to Lyon where he made his name
as a player. Furthermore, Garde is also going to give youth a chance so expect some new names in the Lyon team sheet next season.
