  1. no.  what will help you perform better is developing a consistent swing.  it wouldn't hurt to get some lessons from a professional teacher.  then all you can do is practice a good swing and try to get rid of any bad swing habits

  2. No.

Buying clubs that are properly fitted could help an average player get better, but without a basic foundation of skill...no set of clubs is going to help you.

  3. it should, but like my boss once said when we were golfing, it's not the arrow it's the indian.

I say you should because i can only speak for myself, I had an old set of clubs and i just purchased a new set (Nike sumo) not the most expensive but decent. The difference in hitting them is 1 1/2 clubs. When i normally would hit a full 7 now i can hit an easy 8 or full 9 and since I am hitting a more lofted club I tend to be more accurate.

But you still have to hit it straight or it really doesn't matter.

One thing it does do is give you a psychological lift.

  4. not really. Being fit to a set of clubs will though. and you can't get fit to cheap clubs. They don't offer it. IF you get fit to an expensive set, barring injury or tradgedy you will keep these clubs at least five to 7 years because they will be such good clubs. comfort is a factor too. if you don't like your sticks, you won't like the shots you hit with them either.

  5. I have seen people with 5000.00 in a bag and all the newest and greatest clubs that get beat by a kid playing dunlop clubs.  So..... no!

Its more about the mechanic than the tools.  the tools may help a bit....but its the mechanic that knows how to us his tools that gets the job done.

  6. definitely.  Make sure you get an expensive golf bag too.

  7. It depends on your experience level. If you are just starting out and buy an expensive set you are just throwing your money away. Start with an inexpensive or used set.

  8. Yes and No.  You do not want a cheap set, but you do not need top of the line either.  Get a good used set (your local pro shop can help) and spend your money on lessons, trips to the range, etc.

  9. I have lived all these years and all I needed was a good suit to enhance my performance ? Dad always said" you will learn something new every day" . As for new clubs guaranteeing better performance, this comes from a fantasy world. If you don't have the proper swing, nothing will help.

  10. NO! A lot of variables are not taken into consideration when you by off the shelf clubs. ie Height, arm length, core length ect, ect, ect...

Off the shelf clubs, no matter the price are assembled to a standard length and lie.

A set of these off the shelf clubs might help one person shoot better, but might be the worst set ever for another.

Some of the things that will help improve you game is to have your clubs fitted to you, and practice, as there are no short-cuts to a better golf game.

Have yourself fitted for proper length, grip size and the best shaft for your swing speed. Most of this can be done before you even see a pro by...

having someone measure from your wrist to the floor when your standing straight, then measure you while wearing you golf shoes how tall you are against a wall.

Measure from you wrist to the end of your longest finger.

Next step is to look at your swing speed. a slower swing speed will not need a stiff shaft as this might rob you of distance.

As I said earlier, a lot of variables are taken into consideration for fitting a person to there clubs.

Good luck and keep em str8.

I hope that could help out

  11. No, it depends almost entirely upon your skill.  Only if you already know exactly what you are doing does improving your equipment truly help, and that goes for any sport, not just golf.

  12. equipment does help to an extent...

but if you suck then getting callaway clubs won't magically make you better

get cheaper clubs to start with but it helps somewhat

  13. It depends what level of golf you are at. If you are a beginner, not it won't make a difference but if you are a single handicapper it will make a big difference.

    Have a good one...

  15. There is a saying:

You can buy a Cameron Putter for $300.00 and 3 putt from 21'...and then you can buy a $10.00 Putter and do the same...

There is the area of Quality of the gear, I grant you that, and perhaps you can buy a bit of technology...however, if your game just sux...no amount of quality will compensate for that.
