  1. Races are 5k, or 3.1 miles.  Depending on what sort of warm-ups your coach has you do on those days, you may do anywhere from 5k to 5 miles on race day.

Recovery days tend to be lighter, and come after long runs and workouts.  These days may only be about 3 or 4 miles in total.

Workouts vary greatly, and have different warm-ups.  The warm-up may be around 2-4 miles, depending.  The workout also is usually between 2 and 4 miles, but not at once.  It's divided up, and tends to be much faster than a warm-up.

Long runs are just that: long.  Depending on how much you've trained, it may be anywehre from 4 miles to 10 miles.

    hope it helps!

  2. I ran cross country in high school. It's a 5K or 3.1 miles. practices are a pain though and much harder than the actual race. It's good for the future now though. I picked up running again at 24 and it wasn't that hard to get my endurance back up and working like it did in high school. I'd say go for it. when you get older you'll appreciate being able to get back into shape easier.

  3. I am a freshman as well and we will be running for like 7 to 8 miles in a practice and the freshman races are 2 miles while the older kids races are 3.1 miles. Have fun!

  4. a race will be 3.1 miles but at practice you may run 4 or 5 miles. there are also hills and slopes. hope i helped=]

  5. A typical race is 5k or 3.1 miles. When I trained in high school we would vary our running distance. If we were not doing hills we would run longer such as 4 or 5 miles, or if we were doing hills we might just practice a steep incline but only run a total of two miles. The thing to remember is that you should start training now. Don't jump right into 3.1 miles. Maybe run a mile and a half or two miles for a week and increase. Listen to the coaches as they know how to make you successful.

  6. Well the longest race you run should be about 3.1 miles or 5k. For us the JV and FS runners run about 5 miles a day where the Varsity runners run at the very least 7. During the summer I run anywhere from 5-13 miles but during the season the most I do is 10 because you're gonna be racing for only 3.1 miles. You'll do speed workouts too which are intervals. We usually do between 800-1200 meter intervals during XC.

    hope i helped.
